As I have previously stated, I am an artist and not a scientist. But the more time spent with these wonderful remnants of the deep past the more curious I am about them. And New York is a great location from which to indulge such pursuits. The New York State Museum in Albany, both online and in person, is a treasure trove of information for beginners and experts alike. I'll soon be posting links for those interested in learning more about fossils, geology, and on the historic links between the early geologists and the famous painters of the Hudson River School - a great story of its own!

For now, here are a few:

1. New York State Museum

2. The Paleontology Portal

3. Paleontological Research Institute

4. USGS Paleo links

5. The Peabody Museum of Natural History

6. Geology of New York State
